I have been in Antigua, Guatemala for nearly 2 weeks now. Seems like longer. Me being a history buff, I instantly fell in love with the structure of the city. The historical architecture is so well preserved, even the roads are still stone pathways- makes for bumpy rides. The churches are glorious with articulated stone statues and colorful entrances that you become entranced by the sight of it. Why did we stop building such churches like this to worship God? Luckily though, we aren’t always living in the city. Monday afternoon through Saturday morning we are living on what they call “Prayer Mountain”. We are so high in the mountains that we live in a cloud for the most part of our day. The view is unbeatable though when the sky is clear. Most of the days we get to see the volcano in the distance- rarely we will see the top of it, but it is mesmerizing to watch the clouds move over the top like a wave of water. On our first official day of ministry, we attended what is called the House of Prayer at a coffee shop owned by our host that is called Serve Hope which can be found most places in the world. You can bet that I will be finding it in the U.S.. House of Prayer consists of us sitting together in a room. Each person will read aloud a verse from the book of the bible that was chosen that day and then each person will pray over the verse they had read. After this has happened 3 times, then we will sing in worship. We do this on repeat until we finish our chapter. It is truly beautiful. When you get a chance watch this video:

It is a sneak peak of what we do during House of Prayer. It was a partnership between our organization, The World Race, and our Guatemalan ministry here. The very end is unfortunately cut off, but we were told that when this certain House of Prayer took place- the Holy Spirit was so present that every person in the room was on their knees in worship even the man playing on the keyboard, he was on his knees worshipping as his fingers continued to play on the instrument above him.
Unfortunately, I am still not at full payment for this trip. If you are able to donate or at least spread this message then please do. Thank you so much for supporting me through this journey. My venmo is @srmarx. Until we meet again, I’ll be home soon.

Love,
Sophia
